Choir

The Nanyang Junior College (NYJC) Choir, a mixed youth choir, has been under the direction of Mr Terrence Toh since 2010. Under Mr Toh's leadership, the NYJC Choir has achieved great success and recognition in both local and overseas choral music scenes.

The Choir's journey has been marked by numerous milestones. It clinched gold awards at the Festival of Songs in Olomouc, Czech Republic, and the International Choir Competition Riva del Garda in Italy. In the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation, the Choir was awarded the Certificate of Distinction in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2023.

NYJC Choir has participated in prestigious events and collaborations:

Featured in the Esplanade's Limelight Series in 2013 and 2018
Performed with the Singapore Lyric Opera in their annual Gala Concerts in 2015 and 2016
Collaborated with choirs from Chung Cheng High School (Main), Chung Cheng High School (Yishun), Hwa Chong Institution, CHIJ Katong Convent, and Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)

The Choir's alumni group, NY Chorale, has also been active:

First performance as guest choir with NYJC Choir in 2018
Hosted NYJC Choir as a guest performer in their first Alumni concert in early 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic
Currently boasts 47 active members, with new members joining annually

Recent notable performances include:

One of the first school choirs to hold a live concert at the Art House when COVID-19 measures were relaxed in 2022
A joint concert with NY Chorale at Victoria Concert Hall in 2024

The NYJC Choir continues to uphold its tradition of excellence, fostering musical talent and creating memorable performances for audiences both in Singapore and abroad.

Our practices are held on Mondays, 5:30pm – 7:30pm and Wednesdays, 3:30pm – 7:30pm.
