Lim Tze Peng Art Prize Competition

Jun 11, 2020 BY WEBADMIN | POSTED UNDER : NEWS & EVENTS

The Lim Tze Peng Art Prize Competition is a biennial competition organized by the Lim Tze Peng Art Gallery for the Chung Cheng family of schools - Chung Cheng High School (Main), Chung Cheng High School (Yishun) and Nanyang Junior College.

It is Mr Lim Tze Peng’s wish to do his part to cultivate the next generation of artists. As a young man, Mr Lim would devote his time standing in the streets of Chinatown, drawing what he observed. Today, we are able to enjoy and relish Singapore’s past through his artworks. The pioneer artist’s advice to young artists is that they should not just spend time painting indoors, but to also head outdoors to take in the sight, the sound and the mood of the day.

The theme for the 2019/20 competition is "Flavours of Singapore" which encourages the participants to explore and capture the ever changing landscapes of Singapore and in doing so, cultivate a better appreciation, love and pride for our country.

Our students participated in the Senior Category (16-20 years old) and here are the winners:

2nd Prize Ong Gin Wen (1931)
3rd Prize Tan Zi Ying (1911)
Merit Jemima Phua (1925)
Merit Wu Xinyi (1911)
Merit Ng Jing Han (1931)
